the teleferico on quitos westside brings you up to the 4000m high volcano "pichincha".
this is the world's highest mountain station!!
we're up!! unfortunatley, it's still foggy.
when i saw that first, i thought: so cool, they have alpacas (or whatever this is) here!
but then i saw, that it was just for tourists to take pictures. they give you a hat and a poncho :-)
actually, haruki and i wanted to go up the "rucu pichincha" in a 4-hours-walk. but then, we found horses to rent and thought that was easier :-)
during our 1-hour-tour we saw this little waterfall
behind us, you can spot the peak of the "rucu pichincha"
my poor horse had to pay attention not to slip into the water. when it happend, it splashed and i got wet :-)
me with my horse "golondrina"
she always tried to eat grass, but i wasn't allowed to let her :-)
some pretty flowers that are used to heal arthritis
our tour guide linda with me and golondrina
after the horse ride, we ate "humitas" (puree of corn wrapped in corn husk). you have to eat this traditional dish accompanied by coffee.
only a few hours after our arrival, weather changed completely so we could see quito!
but it turned really cold. that's quito! from 5 to 25 degrees and from sun to rain and hail in 2 hours.
