basilica

basilica del voto nacional in quito's old town
underneath the church, there are a lot of strange shops selling stuff like gas, plumbing accessoires etc. we only thought: what the f***
i think it looks like a castle
behind me, the panecillo-hill. by the way: i'm wearing my super-compy alpaca pullover i bought at otavalo market for 12 dollars.

when we entered to go up the tower, the guy asked us: elevator or stairs? i was like: wow,  that's the first church i visit that has a lift! so cool. but if you want to get to the very top, you have to clim about 7 stairs that are almost vertical like this one. quite scary.
you probably can't believe both clocks.
reminds me of notre dame de paris

 inside, i don't think it's reeeeeally special.
but at least, they have virgins with sashes as if they were at the miss universe election.
the chapel, on the other hand, is very pretty.
