on the bus ride to otavalo, a town noth of quito. every saturday, the biggest indigenous market in south america takes place there.
as you maybe can imagine, the balloons you can see in the background aren't typical indigenous handicrafts
eating on the market is quite difficult for vegetarians. so i just had a mango..
my german friend markus with whom i can speak swiss german (how nice!!) as he's been living in switzerland for a few years is taking care of my newly bought hat while i'm trying on a warm bonnet for cold cotopaxi.
my boys giga, markus and haruki are enjoying their lunch. at the end, they asked what they were eating: pig blood. mmmh i was happy with my mango.
after shopping at the market, we took a taxi to see a waterfall. this pretty scenery is on the way.
poor piggies, can't run away from annoying tourists that take photos of them as they are tied to trees.
giga in front of the entrance to the forest where we will see the waterfall "peguche".
i like these supertall trees in ecuadorian forests.
giga and haruki were brave enough to pass this "bridge", markus and i decided to take the way on the other side of the river.
cascada de peguche
it just looks cool, but actually taking a picture so close to the cascada is similar to taking a shower.
afterwards, giga showed haruki and me the upper part of the waterfall (markus didn't come with us, as he wanted to dry in the sun).
behind the cave, there is another waterfall!! so i went to have a shower. at least, i did it on purpose :-)
haruki tried to do some japanese things under the water (i won't try to remember the name, as i surely would write something chinese, corean or whatever)
after the bath, i had some food out of a bag. 2 hours before i was laughing at this funny idea. but it's really common here. the only bad thing is, that it's quite hot.
before going home we went to a crater of a volcano that is no more active. now, it is a lagoon (Cuicocha) where you can make a boat tour.
after the boat tour, we got a canelazo to warm up. that was necessary, as my clothes still were totally wet from the waterfall.
cute little bird singing so loud
