biggest waterfall in ecuador

one weekend, people from sierra flor planned to go to the oriente, the jungle-part in ecuador, to see the biggest waterfall of the country: cascada de san rafael. as the journey was a 5 hours bus-ride, we left sierra flor on friday evening to spend the night in quito.
this picture is still inside the plantation, they put up a new sign: school zone - next to rocks, grass, and actually nothing that reminds of a school :-)
the first time after 2.5 months when i saw the chimborazo, highest volcano in ecuador!
they were watering the fields (and the road) when we had to pass by. almost felt like in "mission impossible" to await the right moment for passing :-)
next morning, after 3 hours bus ride, finally a stop to go to toilet :-) we already felt the heat of the jungle (even only 9 in the morning) and saw the special animals!
during the stop, having a chat with these cute kids. they were very proud of talking a bit of english with us.
finally arrived at the entrance of the national park cayambe-coca, where the waterfall is situated.
hoping that my friends don't weigh more than 30 tons..
spotting the first of many baby-waterfalls
one of the bridges across the rivers
huge leaves - a nice concert when the drops fall on them
 strange plants..
 ..and cute beetles
the first viewpoint where we could see the waterfall!
our whole group: jessy, mariana, me, estrella, efren and merche
wanting to jump down? (can you spot the rainbow on the right at the bottom?)
perhaps the sister of the green beetle :-)
 butterfly
strange strange plants in the jungle!!
